"Pauleen"

This is the story of a local teenage girl who found employment at the US Officer Candidate School in Wacol 1943-45. Includes original scripts, sketches and photos and her memories of the camp.
 


“Richlands - Early History of the Development of the Suburb”

Fred Clark spent his childhood years growing up in Richlands, and he diligently set about researching the history of Richlands, from the original land title holders in the early 1870s through to the early industrialization of the area in the 1950s.
 


“World War II stories from Brisbane’s South West”
(Richlands, Darra, Wacol, Oxley and Goodna)

This 200 page book presents the memories of 21 civilians who were in the district in World War II, and 8 more who were somehow enmeshed in the events.


All books are now on sale for $20 (plus $5 for postage & handling).

Hysterical Facts:

Snottygobbles is an official name for the Geebung tree in some places!!

Geebung is an Aboriginal word for the fruit - traditionally used for food and medicine.

Doolandella is a local Aboriginal word for the Geebung tree - thus the suburb name.
